HVAC Field Technician - Calgary

Stuart Olson Industrial Projects Inc., a subsidiary of Stuart Olson Inc., is seeking an HVAC Field Technician who will be responsible for drafting HVAC systems, performing air calculations and heat rejections.

This position is based in our NW Edmonton, AB office with travel to client sites required.

Working Conditions

Work both indoors and outdoors

Accept assignments on short notice and work within strict deadlines

Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, etc.


Test and evaluation of specialty AHU cooling, unit heaters and refrigeration systems and components.

Design specialty dx cooling and refrigeration systems.

Develop control wiring diagrams.

Develop specialty HVAC sequence of operations.

Test and troubleshoot our units in a manufacturing and lab environment.

Test and evaluate electronic temperature controllers.

Provide reporting on results of tests and evaluations.


Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology

Alberta Certified Journeyman and/or Red Seal Endorsed

Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering an asset

7-10 years’ HVAC Industry experience with a focus on refrigeration or specialty dx systems

Experience in refrigeration / HVAC system troubleshooting and service

Experience in refrigeration / HVAC product development

Experience with digital programmable control systems used in refrigeration or HVAC systems

Experience working with analog, digital and micro controller circuits

Experience in AutoCAD and MS Windows is desirable.

Drug and Alcohol testing required

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance

Stand or walk for long periods of time

Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects

Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects

Compensation and Benefits
